Just about two years ago I agreed to take on the job of President of the Crofton Town Club. This organization had been the source of many evenings out for my husband and I, when we first moved to Crofton. My children spent time with other children within the community through the mom and tots program and summer picnics, and I had even attended a book club or two. I felt like it was my duty to give back to the club that had been welcoming to my family and me.
I truly enjoyed my time serving both as vice president and president. This opportunity was full of gratifying feelings. I remember one progressive dinner, in which my husband and I hosted the appetizer and drinks portion…several hours later, a crowd of 30 was still gathered around our kitchen island and the next course was getting cold…these moments of “just enjoying each other” as friends and neighbors will be a part of my memories forever.
I hope that many of you also have good memories of our time together and are planning on creating many more of these special moments in the next few years…because a new set of officers is ready to take over. We have been working together for the past year and they are primed with new ideas, new enthusiasm and tons of energy. I am thrilled that they see the benefit of being part of this wonderful club. One job remains unfilled at this time and that is Treasurer. This job involves depositing checks from craft fair and membership, reimbursing for activities and keeping track of the budget for board meetings. I am told this amounts to about an hour a week. If you think this sounds like fun and want to be involved in something worthwhile, please contact
Ashley.fuchs@gmail.com or Valerie.sarisky-reed@ee.coe.gov.
A great big thank you goes out the dedicated members who served on the board this past year and for many years prior.
Linda Sayan and Monica Matthews have served as our vice presidents and coordinators of the activities for adults. Thank you both for time served and the hours you put into research on new events. Linda goes way back in the club history, serving as VP and President in her time. Monica has lent her beautiful home to many events making them huge successes.
Janis Davisson has been our treasurer for the past two years and my advisor on all things townclub, as she served as VP and President in years gone by too. Thanks for remembering all the bylaws when we needed a quick reminder.
Cheryl Wallace has been creating the newsletter for the past two years, and never a month goes by that I am not late getting my input into her. Thanks for always making me feel like it was not a problem, even though I know it was.
Maria Powell brought her experience with the Internet to the townclub helping to maintain the website that was established only one term before she took over as our Webmaster. This is a huge undertaking and we had our share of server problems, which only Maria was able to figure out.
Claire Spencer has served as our membership coordinator for the last two years and she has previously served as Treasurer. “No worries” is Claire’s motto and one I will always appreciate, as there were many unforeseen worries that popped up over the last two years.
Melissa Pierce has served as our secretary this term and has been in charge of being sure that the donations the club makes get to all the recipients. Thanks Melissa for being behind the scenes and keeping us moving forward.
You are all dear friends and great neighbors! Thanks again.

Good-bye Message:
Monica & I would like to thank all of the members of the Crofton Town Club who hosted events for our group, attended our social events, and helped make our job a lot of fun. We’ve enjoyed seeing familiar faces throughout the last two years and were also very excited to meet the newer members of the group. As we end our term, we look to these new members of the group to move the Town Club forward and perhaps in a new and fun direction.
Just two short years ago, Monica & I were excited when we introduced the ladies nights “with a theme” format. From the self-defense night to the eating healthy seminar, we thought we really made a great change in the standard ladies night of previous years. Now Monica & I look forward to the new energy and ideas that our new board members will bring to the group. Candi Ciccarello is trading in her Mom's and Tot's hat to head up the new VP position as well as her friend LeAnn Plumer. We can't wait to attend some of the new events that will be planned for next year.

Simply Healthy Eating “Field Trip”
Tuesday, April 15th
7:30 pm
Crofton Giant Food Store
Are you confused by what it means to “eat healthy”? Most of us are, and according to “Your Pantry Makeover” consultant Ashley Fuchs, RN, it’s not your fault. Grocery stores contribute to your confusion with an over abundance of choices, the packaging, and marketing of non-foods as “health foods” and chemical ingredients that you can barely pronounce. Join us for a tour through our local Giant as Ashley teaches us how to focus on those foods that are your best choices for eating healthy. She will help you make changes that will transform your family’s health and relationship to food, without making you lose enjoyment of the foods that you love. You might be surprised at what she has to say!
Hope to see you there!
RSVP to Linda Sayan at fmsayan@msn.com- just so we can get an idea of how many people we can expect.
